In order to increase the consumption of steel in India, INSDAG is concentrating in the following key areas:
Making designs of low-cost houses and Anganwaadis to promote steel framed structures in affordable housing.
Creating and publishing design aids, manuals, and guidebooks for practical applications by engineering professionals.
Actively participating in the development and revision of BIS and IRC Codes to standardize steel construction practices.
Organizing regular training programs for teachers and professionals — over 10,000 man-days spent so far — and Award Competitions for students.
Running national competitions for students of Civil Engineering and Architecture — over 6,000 students have gained exposure on steel applications.
Supporting the Ministry of Steel in developing standardized Steel-Concrete Composite Bridge designs for adoption by MoRTH.
The strategic roadmap guiding INSDAG's mission to expand steel usage and impact across India.
Institute wishes to expand into newer areas of steel usage in order to increase consumption of steel and grow its member base through value-added services.
Take up more challenging consultancy jobs on steel usage in low-cost and affordable housing to establish the advantages of steel framed structures.
Conducting Life Cycle Cost analysis of steel structures to demonstrate long-term economic and environmental benefits over conventional materials.
Implementation of electronic publication for wider dissemination of technical output and a balanced thrust on sustainable revenue generation.
Helping to set up fabrication facilities in rural and semi-urban areas to create local entrepreneurs and expand the steel manufacturing ecosystem.
Working on sustainable development including green building initiatives, integrating environmental responsibility into all of INSDAG's programs and projects.
